Descripción y detalle de las actividades

The Industrial Engineer is responsible for working in collaboration with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and NPI teams to drive industrial engineering activities that improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and manufacturing scalability for high-speed cable and backplane assembly operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain accurate labor standards through time studies, work sampling, and standardized work documentation.
  • Perform line balancing, staffing analysis, and workstation optimization to achieve production output and labor-efficiency targets.
  • Develop capacity models for labor, equipment, tooling, floor space, and shift requirements; identify bottlenecks and support capacity expansion and production ramp plans.
  • Create and maintain production layouts, workstation designs, and material-flow concepts to improve space utilization, ergonomics, travel distance, and work-in-process.
  • Analyze cycle time, labor utilization, earned hours, scrap, rework, and manufacturing cost; lead Kaizen, Lean, and 5S initiatives with measurable productivity and cost-saving results.
  • Participate in EVT, DVT, PVT, and manufacturing transfer activities, defining preliminary capacity, headcount, layout, process flow, and labor assumptions.
  • Maintain industrial engineering master data, routings, and standard times in applicable business systems; develop Excel and Power BI dashboards to monitor productivity, capacity utilization, and labor efficiency.
  • Evaluate opportunities for fixtures, semi-automation, robotics, and error-proofing, supporting business cases, equipment justification, and validation.
  • Provide hands-on support to production during line launches, demand changes, and performance issues, and align local methods with CBS global industrial engineering standards.
  • Prepare status reports and present productivity and capacity updates to leadership.

Experiencia y requisitos

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment; electronics, cable assembly, connectors, automotive, or medical devices preferred.
  • Practical experience with time studies, labor standards, line balancing, capacity analysis, factory layouts, material flow, and productivity improvement.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, standardized work, and continuous-improvement methods.
  • Knowledge of quality and manufacturing tools such as PFMEA, SPC, Pareto analysis, control plans, and root-cause corrective action.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate production data into clear actions for operators, supervisors, engineers, and managers.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; Power BI, ERP/MRP, and AutoCAD or other 2D/3D layout tools are a plus.
  • Results-oriented with a focus on cost reduction and productivity.
  • Leadership skills and the ability to execute multiple priorities with limited supervision.
  • Advanced English and excellent communication skills in Spanish and English.
