Descripción y detalle de las actividades

The Import / Export Intern will support the Customs & Trade Compliance team in the daily execution of import and export operations. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in international trade, customs compliance, logistics, and inventory control within a manufacturing environment. This position will assist in maintaining accurate trade documentation, ensuring compliance with Mexican customs regulations, and supporting continuous operational efficiency.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist with the entry, tracking, and follow-up of import and export transactions.
  • Prepare, organize, and validate import/export files and customs documentation.
  • Maintain and reconcile customs entries (pedimentos), commercial invoices, and supporting documentation.
  • Support temporary inventory control and Annex 24 record maintenance.
  • Coordinate follow-up activities with customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, and suppliers.
  • Assist in monitoring shipment status and resolving documentation discrepancies.
  • Support customs compliance activities and internal or external trade compliance audits.
  • Maintain accurate records in company databases and filing systems.
  • Prepare reports and provide administrative support to the Import/Export team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experiencia y requisitos

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing the final semesters of, or recently graduated with, a Bachelor's degree in International Trade, International Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Previous internship, academic project, or work experience related to import/export operations is preferred, but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of Mexican customs entries (Pedimentos), foreign trade invoicing, Annex 24, and customs documentation.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • English proficiency (reading and writing preferred).
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn and develop within an international manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with IMMEX operations.
  • Basic understanding of customs regulations and international logistics.
  • Experience working with ERP systems is a plus.
