Major Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership & Operational Execution
- Supervise the daily import and export activities of the Import/Export Operations team.
- Monitor daily workload to ensure timely, accurate and compliant processing.
- Ensure SOPs are consistently followed.
- Establish accountability for quality, productivity, turnaround time and customer service.
- Coach, mentor and develop Import/Export Specialists and Assistants.
- Ensure employees maintain required knowledge and skills.
- Conduct performance reviews and corrective actions.
- Manage departmental priorities and customs broker performance.
Continuous Improvement & Technology
- Develop KPIs, dashboards and operational reporting.
- Analyze performance and improve efficiency.
- Lead automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Leverage ERP, reporting tools, and AI to improve import/export operations
Mexico Trade Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Mexican Customs regulations.
- Oversee IMMEX, VAT & IEPS Certification, Annex 24 and Annex 30.
- Monitor SAT, ANAM and regulatory changes.
- Review import/export documentation and pedimentos.
- Coordinate customs audits and compliance reviews.
- Partner with customs brokers to resolve issues.
U.S. Trade Compliance Knowledge
- Maintain working knowledge of U.S. import/export regulations.
- Understand Rules of Origin, valuation concepts, CTPAT/OEA and export compliance.
- Recognize issues requiring escalation.
- Partner with Global Trade Compliance.
Experiencia y requisitos
Profile:
The ideal candidate demonstrates integrity, accountability, professionalism, strong customer focus and a continuous improvement mindset.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in International Business, International Trade, Customs Administration, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration or related field.
Knowledge/Experience:
- 5+ years of Mexico import/export operations.
- 3+ years supporting a maquiladora (IMMEX).
- 2+ years of supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of Mexican Customs, SAT and ANAM.
- Experience with IMMEX, VAT & IEPS, Annex 24 and Annex 30.
- Experience managing customs brokers.
- Experience implementing automation and process improvements.
- Experience developing KPIs, dashboards and operational reporting.
- Experience with SAP or similar ERP.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams.
- General knowledge of U.S. import/export regulations.
